Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (J.D.R.F.)

Dance Connection & the Ashcraft family walkers in 2009
Dance Connection supports the efforts of the JDRF by raising money at the studio and participating in their annual "Walk For A Cure" event.
The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal. Until a cure is found, people with type 1 diabetes have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times or use a pump - each day, every day of their lives.

Rena, Julia & Olivia Ashcraft (Shirley Miller's granddaughters) at the 2010 walk
In 2010, our team raised the most money, had the most walkers and won 1st place in the annual t-shirt contest.
The winning t-shirt (the girls above are wearing) was designed and drawn by Mike Day.

Stewpot Community Services

From its beginning, the goal of Stewpot has been to promote, develop, stimulate and encourage physical and spiritual development to Jackson's poor and homeless by providing nutritious meals. The Stewpot kitchen was a success almost instantly. The Community Kitchen provides a noontime meal to anyone - no questions asked - seven days a week. We collect and deliver food and money to Stewpot during the Christmas holidays every year. Thanks to all of our students who have given to this cause.

Madison ARK Shelter

The mission of the Madison ARK is to provide an animal shelter offering quality food, shelter, and medical attention for homeless dogs and cats. Mike & Lisa donate both time and food to the shelter throughout the year.
Toys For Tots

No child should have to wake up on Christmas morning without a gift. The staff and students of Dance Connection collected toys and money for several holiday seasons to ensure every child would have a Merry Christmas. Mike & Lisa continue to donate to this charity.
MS Opera Fundraiser

On August 19, 2010, Lisa partnered with "celebrity" Dr. CJ Chen where they won the inaugural Mississippi Opera's Dance With The Stars event.
Our team also won for the most money raised. See photos here...
United Way Campaign

To benefit the United Way, the State Department of Finance & Administration held the first "Dancing With The Stars" type of event in Jackson, Mississippi on October 31, 2007! Mike & Lisa donated lessons to all the contestants to prepare for the event.
Multiple Sclerosis Valentine Dance Benefit

On February
4, 2012, Mike and Lisa provided the music, DJ and MC services for a benefit for the MS Multiple Sclerosis Society. Mike also taught several line dances throughout the evening, and kept everyone on the floor for a fun and successful event.
